Veronicastrum virginicum  Buddleja davidii ‘Burgundy’ Buddleja davidii Franch.is a popular garden shrub which has escaped cultivation to become established as a naturalised plant in the wild, where it can often be found on waste ground around towns and cities. It will grow happily in most garden soils and can even be seen growing out of cracks in masonry on buildings. Description Buddleja davidii 'Attraction' has incredibly fragrant, bright reddish-purple to magenta-colored blooms which are, as the name suggests, highly attractive to pollinators. Although 'Attraction' can be grown in part sun, it becomes weedy and with diminished flowering if not grown in full sun. The butterfly bush (Buddleia davidii) is a beautiful, fast-growing, deciduous shrub with masses of blossoms—long, spiked trusses—that bloom from summer to autumn. Its flowers come in many colors, though butterflies seem to prefer the lavender-pink (mauve) of the species to the white and dark purple cultivars. Invasive Issues To plant or not to plant has been the question surrounding butterfly bush (Buddleia or Buddleja davidii) for years.
